The University of California (UC) is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and public service. The UC Office of the President is the headquarters for the 10 campuses, six academic medical centers, and three national laboratories.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The University of California Health comprises six academic health centers and numerous health professional schools. The UC Health Finance and Strategy department provides strategic, administrative, and financial direction to support UC Health.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Vice President Finance and Chief Strategy Officer reports to the Executive Vice President (EVP) of UC Health and serves as a senior advisor providing analytical and strategic support on healthcare issues. The position manages independent programs and participates in systemwide committees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

60%

Financial Oversight

- Oversee the UC Health-wide integrated commercial payer strategy and manage the annual contracts totaling $8B. Coordinate policy and advocacy efforts for Medi-Cal and Medicare reimbursement.

20%

Executive Collaboration & Program and Policy Management

- Negotiate strategic solutions with executive stakeholders and lead divisional initiatives on behalf of the EVP.

15%

Strategic Planning and Execution

- Lead the development and implementation of a UC Health systemwide strategic investment plan.

5%

Divisional Leadership & Management

- Conduct complex cross-divisional projects and represent the EVP in high-level meetings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

10 - 15 years of high-level administration and financial oversight experience.

Expertise in strategy development and change management.

Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage complex situations.

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary:

$478,000 - $600,000
