Manager, Cataloging and Collections Information Smithsonian Institution National Museum of American History The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History invites applications from information professionals for the position of Manager, Cataloging and Collections Information. This exciting new position will play a key role in the museum’s efforts to make its 1.8 million objects and 21,000 square feet of archival material more accessible, discoverable, and useful for curious people around the world. The person in this position will lead the collaborative development of user-centered standards and best practices for describing historical collections; design and coordinate cataloging procedures and workflows; envision, plan, and direct data remediation and transformation projects; and provide technical oversight and planning, including administration of the museum’s collections information system. Qualified candidates will have experience contributing to the development of shared standards or procedures for describing historical, cultural, archival, or museum collections, building on professional best practices for cataloging and classification. Additionally, candidates should possess skill in guiding collaborations with stakeholders, ability to manage multiple projects, and knowledge of modern museum collections information technologies and concepts.
