Job Description: The Lab Operation group at SonoThera is seeking to hire an Animal Care Technician to become an integral part of thevivarium operations team. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, start-up environment. A qualified candidate will have broad experience in animal care and surgical support. The person in this role will need to feel passionate about working with animals, enjoy and excel at organization, and support and maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment. This position is on-site. What You Will Accomplish: Perform breeding activities which include mating mice, time mating, plug check, and weaning litters. Update colony inventory and health observations using applicable software for the tracking of animals. Reports health concerns to the attending veterinarian, manager contact, and vivarium team for guidance on treatment or euthanasia. Assist in breeding-related genotyping assays, including collection samples, extraction of DNA, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and report preparation. Assist in the maintenance and organization of genotyping reagents, equipment, and laboratory supplies. Perform other related tasks, duties, and responsibilities as required. Technical Requirements and Skills: General knowledge of feeding, caging, and space requirements for multiple species of laboratory animals used in biomedical research. Industry experience preferred. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong record-keeping and organizational skills. Prior experience at start-up companies a plus. General Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Animal Science or related area preferred. 2+ years of relevant rodent experience in research animal science or husbandry. Compensation: The salary range for this position is $33/hr to $41/hr USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data, including potential adjustments for geographic location.
