Global Trade Compliance Specialist
Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for an Global Trade Compliance Specialist position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.
Job Summary:
The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will work with various teams to develop and implement the global trade strategy at local and global levels, including enhancing export compliance controls, developing trade compliance policies and procedures, and facilitating governance through metrics, audits, training and risk assessment. Reviews and evaluates trade compliance policy and suggests regulatory guidance relative to export/import procedures and documentation, business processes, country of origin rules, licensing and administration, recordkeeping, audits and training. Works with management to determine priority and policy for Free Trade Agreement programs in conjunction with the Supply Chain and Logistics functions. The Global Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring all platform, service, product, processes, procedures, metrics, training and activities are aligned with Global Trade Compliance requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assists in the development and implementation of import/export compliance policies and procedures; communicates policies, procedures, and best practices to all business units to ensure full compliance to applicable government regulations, as well as corporate policies and procedures of the Global Trade Compliance Department.
Coordinates with other critical functions and business units in order to establish and maintain effective and relevant export/import activities and support in relation to the organization's sales, engineering, purchasing, logistics, materials management, production and overall operating functions.
Responsible for product classification according to ECCN's, USML Categories, Schedule B and HTSUS tariff codes; oversee export licensing activities (EAR and ITAR), and maintain the product /Country matrix.
Maintains awareness of changing export control laws and regulations and provides analysis regarding applicability and impact to company products and technologies, as well as existing company export policies and procedures and ensuring that such knowledge is factored into management's planning of the organization's strategy, resources and procedures.
Uses intermediate, independent judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in import/export activity and procedures.
Monitors, records, analyzes and reports on activities, trends, results and recommendations relating to import/export activities.
Responsible for oversight of ongoing training of import/export compliance personnel, for annual training at all business units, and for ensuring all other functional departmental training is conducted within each business unit.
Assists in developing an import / export compliance audit schedule, and performing regularly scheduled audits in all business units. Coordinates resolution of corrective actions as a result of audit findings; leads or participates in investigations and potential disclosures.
Maintains proficiency in, and appropriate use of, all relevant ICT (Information & Communications Technology) and other systems within the import/export function.
Coordinates and interfaces with US governmental agencies on import/export documentation requirements, such as commodity jurisdictions (CJ's), advisory opinions, general correspondence, and various communications.
Coordinates and interfaces with legal counsel on export related issues.
As an integral member of the Global Trade Compliance team, may perform other duties as assigned by their manager, to include leading various Fike process improvement projects and/or participation in projects including digital transformation, general awareness and other company initiatives.
Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required

Job Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, International Business, Finance or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Additionally, 3-5 years of post-degree comparable experience. Proficiency in current US export laws and regulations, both International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Proficient in assessment and application of export and import regulations. Familiarity with contract terms and conditions. Ability to be able to develop, implement and coordinate import/export compliance projects and initiatives. Must be able to perform well under pressure, responding to a high volume, fast paced and short turn- around time on customer and management requests. Self-motivated with effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, detail oriented skills, organizational skills, strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize/manage multiple tasks. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred : International Traffic and Arms Regulation (ITAR) Empowered Official. Export management experience in a manufacturing environment. Contracts administration and experience in FAR and DFAR. Exposure to the Defense and Aerospace industry contract terms and conditions.
