Description: Job Summary:Provides public reception; sells pharmacy merchandise; transcribes information for prescription labels; assists pharmacist with clerical functions according to established procedures.Essential Responsibilities:Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws. 1. Greets patients; initiates sales from and performs other clerical tasks by recording applicable patient information prior to routing prescription to pharmacist. 2. Sells pharmacy merchandise to correct patient, may determine fee for pharmacy merchandise following established procedures; records transactions with cash register. 3. Transcribes by typing, or other means, dosage instructions and data, such as drug name and quantity for labels as required by abbreviated or symbolized information written on physicians orders. 4. Totals cash payments received and completes bank deposit slip for corresponding money and forwards cash register tape subtotals and transmittal form to Cash Control as required. 5. Provides telephone reception for Pharmacy by referring call or obtaining required information for prescription refill requests; pulls appropriate prescription refill request; pulls appropriate prescription order form pharmacy files and gives to pharmacist for pharmacist. 6. May order pharmacy merchandise from appropriate vendor as designated on inventory control document as directed by pharmacist. 7. May receive incoming pharmacy merchandise by signing delivery receipts; verifies contents of shipments according to name and quantity with related packing slips and purchase orders, notating quantities received and data of receipt in appropriate from as required; refers problems such as damaged items or discrepancies in shipping documents to supervisor; sends required documents to Accounts Payable Department after obtaining authorized signature. 8. Maintains pre-established quantities for pharmacy merchandise in designated areas and may maintain display shelves. 9. Keeps assigned area and equipment in an organized and clean condition; maintains a safe and efficient working environment. 10. Maintains copy of medication that are issued to nursing units and verify and maintain completed sheets returned by the nursing unit, prepares tally sheets of utilization of specifies drugs according to established procedures. 11. Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations with the public, patients and other personnel. 12. Performs other duties as required. 13. Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent with the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service. 14.Basic Qualifications: Experience N/A Education N/A License, Certification, Registration N/AAdditional Requirements:Previous pharmacy/cashiering experience required.Must pass DEA clearance.Bilingual (English/Spanish) QBS Level I required.Preferred Qualifications:N/ANotes:•Must successfully have passed the bilingual test (within the last 12 months), or be active in the QBS program.
