Position Overview The Information & Technology (IT) Specialist will join a team of IT Professionals to support the Director of Information Technology in maintaining and supporting a technology model for all our campuses. The IT Specialist must have proven technical skills and excellent helpdesk support experience to appropriately support our students staff, and partners in an on-campus setting. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology of Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation. The worksite and tour of duty for this position are located in the DC Jail, which is an adult correctional facility. Requirements Responsibilities Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Provide technology support to faculty, staff, and students Provide coverage/support/assistance to any campus or site when needed/required Provide deskside and remote technical support Log and track all calls and helpdesk system and maintain records and related problem documentation. Review, solve, and close IT support tickets in a timely manner Follow up with end users to ensure issues are resolved, and the end users are satisfied Prepare classrooms for the beginning of school, including phone, Interactive board, projector, wiring, desktop, and cart placement. Support On-Prem infrastructure and Cloud-based technology Chromebooks & cart management (Syncing, assignment, inventory, and repair) Escalate tickets, network, and server solutions Deploy, label, and perform maintenance on projector filters, phones, computers, and printers Keep cabling in all offices and classrooms orderly and clean Manage software updates, patches, and administration for solutions such as Anti-Virus, MS Office, Mac OS, iOS, Google Chrome, and Windows Operating Systems Facilitate end-user resolution for escalated calls/tickets and engage the necessary technical support resources Report operational metrics and progress to direct supervisors on a regular basis Work with other Information Technology Specialists to ensure operational consistency Working with external contractors on specific tasks and/or projects related to technology Coordinate support and logistics for large technology-reliant events, including Assessment testing, community events, large group meetings Responsible for assigned projects and collaborating with team members on shared projects Support in developing and updating a usable and constantly changing IT knowledge base system Other duties as assigned Key Requirements Must have hands-on experience in Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, Azure Cloud, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, and Windows Server Experience with IT helpdesk system, logging, tracking documents, and maintaining records of user issues. Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, and Print Management Excellent internal/external customer service skills, ability to be flexible, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team Computer hardware and school technology hardware maintenance experience Understanding of school IT cycles and school readiness preparedness duties Experience with VOIP phone systems Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in IT or a related field (required) Minimum of 3 years experience in an information system or technology department (required) experience at a school or in an educational setting (preferred) A minimum of CompTIA Network and Security (required) Salary and Benefits Our salaries are comparable to those of other public schools in the District of Columbia area.
