Your Specific Responsibilities:

+

Performs professional public health nursing duties in the care and treatment of clients in the clinics and community

+

Performs nursing duties in Obstetrics, Family Planning, Women's Health, STD, Procedures and Immunization clinics

+

Interviews, counsels, demonstrates, and teach health principles

+

Participates in continuing education staff in-service programs and new employee orientation.

+

Applies nursing principles and techniques in the care and treatment of clients.

+

Utilizes the EHR accurately and correctly

+

Participates in the preparation of clinic rooms and equipment.

+

Participates in immunization programs and assists with communicable disease control.

+

Assumes responsibility for the case management of high-risk clients and follow up of abnormal test results

+

Participates in the completion of programmatic reports and audits

+

Participates in continuing education, in-service, staff meeting and new employee orientation.

+

Completes and submits required time management documentation

+

Performs related work as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+

Knowledge in assessing patient health problems and needs

+

Knowledge in developing and implementing nursing care plans and maintaining medical records

+

Knowledge of computer software including applications and EHR's

+

Knowledge of Public Health Practices

+

Knowledge of medical equipment and instrumentation, room preparation and sterile instruments and related procedures including assisting physicians with procedures

+

Ability to administer nursing care and advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention

+

Ability to perform case management

+

Ability to perform physical activities that require moving one's whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, where the activities often also require considerable use of the arms and legs, such as in the physical handling of materials

+

Ability to lift 20 lbs

+

Ability to communicate effectively with others to convey information, both verbal and written

Qualifications:

Minimum

+

Current Florida Department of Health employee

+

Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency

+

Willing to travel to various locations in Brevard County

+

5 years work experience in the following areas as a Registered Nurse:

Public Health, Outpatient Clinic , Obstetrics, Family Planning, Immunizations and Women's Health

+

Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree and hold a current state Registered Nurse license
