DESCRIPTION

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The NP is expected to practice consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. The major emphasis at this level is ongoing direct patient care delivery. Assignments at this level primarily encompass management of patients who present chronic and/or episodic health problems. Assignments at this level may include responsibility for occasional community teaching programs, participation in program planning and development of patient education information.

Under the direction of the Clinical Medical Director for Select Specialty Hospital, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide patient care for University of California San Diego Health patients who were discharged to Select Specialty. The NP will be responsible for daily examinations; ordering the diagnostic tests; and following up on these and other laboratory tests; formulation plan of care. Plans and implements treatment, teaching and or support to patients and families. Provides consultation to other health and allied health professionals to collaboratively assess patient care needs and treatment plans periods. Will act as a liaison between the University of California San Diego Health physician teams to ensure continuity of care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Must be a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.

* California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and Furnishing License Certification.

* Current Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) Certification (AGACNP or ACNP).

* Current BLS and ACLS certifications with commitment to maintain during employment.

* Minimum of three years experience as a nurse practitioner working within the inpatient environment with medical and/or surgical patients.

* Ability to perform initial history, and physical examination, identify major medical problems, and formulate appropriate plans of action.

* Ability to manage own patient load.

* Must be able to work within a team environment.

* Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

* Ability to communicate effectively with patients and other health care personnel.

* Ability to maintain good working relationships and communications with physicians in-charge, laboratory personnel, and members of the health care team.

* Knowledge of all types of treatment and modalities necessary for the patients care and well-being and the skill in recording nursing/medical assessment findings accurately and completely.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Prior ICU experience either as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and/or Registered Nurse (RN).

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

* Must be able to work various hours and location based on business needs.

* Must be able to obtain Select Specialty Hospital privileges.

* Employment is subject to a criminal background check and preemployment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $221,265 - $221,265 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $105.97 - $105.97

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
