78003900D20241107 Underwriter Manager – Wholesale Excess Chicago, IL | Scottsdale City, AZ | Exton, PA | USA The Underwriter Manager plays an important part in helping AXA XL Wholesale division in the North Central Region achieve its underwriting objectives and deliver the service and support that enhances the positive image of the AXA XL brand. Therefore, the role requires significant interaction with a team of Underwriters, Clients, Brokers, and internal stakeholders. As the Manager of the North Central Underwriting Team, the role will focus on managing a sizable renewal portfolio while securing new business opportunities by providing leading-edge solutions for client needs. Essential Responsibilities
Developing and managing a team of underwriters to win new business and retain existing customers. Overseeing referrals and the health of the portfolio by monitoring losses, retention, and pipeline management. Evaluating appropriate risk premium based on rules and guidelines to ensure a diverse portfolio that strives to deliver profitability. Initiating opportunities for cross-selling alongside peer products and other AXA products with a client-first mindset. Controlling timely implementation of New and Renewal accounts according to quality standards (including policy audits and invoice issuance). Monitoring premium collection according to standards and taking necessary actions. Supporting and developing new product expansion as needed, working alongside peer leaders and the Head of Wholesale Excess. Advising, assisting, and servicing clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure client satisfaction and responding to client and AXA XL queries in a timely manner. Ensuring timely implementation of Policy endorsements and proper hand-over for implementation. Developing skills, knowledge, and competencies of less experienced colleagues. Travel requirements are estimated to be 15-20% within the region. Qualifications
Extensive Underwriting and/or equivalent Broker experience with thorough knowledge of underwriting, rating methodologies, forms, and business processes. Previous underwriting management experience is preferred, but not required. Good understanding of the Wholesale Excess Market and global and domestic property underwriting. Large account experience and HPR background is a plus. Underwriting or loss control experience within property, marine, and construction disciplines. Experience with Aon, Marsh, Willis, Lockton, AJ Gallagher within the North Central region Wholesale Broker Networks. Excellent analytical skills. Excellent marketing, presentation, and negotiation skills. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, producers, and trading partners. Solid personal direction and time management skills.
