Manager of Income Tax Compliance Summary of the role: The Manager of Tax Compliance is part of the North America tax team and will report to the North America Director of Tax. This role will be responsible for mentoring and leading a staff of 2+ while managing their performance and will collaborate on internal and outsourced income tax compliance projects. The ideal candidate will have proven accounting skills, strong tax technical background, and managerial experience while having a roll-up-the-sleeves enthusiasm and work ethic to promote a team atmosphere. They will work hands-on leading the outsourced compliance process, assist the Director in preparing tax provisions and account reconciliations, and play a key role in companywide projects. We seek a working manager who is a self-starter and can manage multiple competing priorities. This role will have tax compliance responsibilities for operations in the US, Canada, Latin America, Central America, and the Caribbean and will be responsible for managing projects and communicating with various departments in satisfaction of compliance requirements including state apportionment, fixed assets, R&D tax credit, Sec. 174 regulation, foreign tax credit, GILTI/FDII, BEAT, transfer pricing documentation, etc. They will guide and work with direct reports to maintain interoffice mail via internal logs and manage the disbursement and timely resolve tax matters with tax authorities. In this role you’ll: Manage the end-to-end process and communicate with consultants on the outsourced compliance engagements. Review and facilitate the associated internally prepared workpapers while meeting required deadlines. Use critical thinking to perform strategic review of all consultant deliverables including but not limited to annual income tax returns, quarterly estimated payments, extensions, and depreciation. Be responsible for the preparation of monthly domestic income tax provisions. Assist the director of tax with the review of biannual US and Central America outsourced tax provisions, including footnotes, ETR analysis, deferred roll forwards, supporting calculations, and associated journal entries. Guide direct reports as to the preparation and review monthly tax account reconciliations and required accounting journal entries. Effectively communicate, verbally and electronically, with global departments to obtain relevant data efficiently, and timely meet internal and external deliverable deadlines. Assist the Director of Tax with multi-annual cash tax forecasting, ETR computations and analytical review, and overall tax accounting requirements. Assess the current tax systems and procedures for efficiency and work with the team to develop improvements where needed. Manage the withholding tax process and related accounting for global customer short pays and contracted agreements. Ensure the collection of required documentation in support of US tax credits. Consult with and assist the Director of Tax on company-driven global tax projects and initiatives including tax planning and implementations of newly enacted procedures and guidelines, software systems, entity restructurings, etc. About the Ideal Candidate: Bachelor's/master’s degree in accounting/taxation and/or equivalent work experience Fluency in spoken and written business English is required Minimum of 15+ years of corporate in-house tax and/or public accounting experience. Technical Competencies: Proficiency in advanced Excel skills SAP S4Hana experience Experience with Canadian, Central America and Caribbean, LATAM taxes. A strategic mindset and strong analytical and problem resolution skills to manage and reconcile large volumes of transactional data to report internally and externally Minimum of 10 years management experience leading a team of at least one direct report Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience with IFRS Standards Must be able to calculate income tax provision manually in Excel, including current and deferred provision, deferred roll forward, tax payable reconciliation, journal entries, and footnotes. In-depth knowledge of Federal/State and International Income Tax regulations. Must be a self-starter with a hands-on approach to problem solving Heavy knowledge of IAS 12 (accounting for income taxes) Ability to communicate issues in a clear and effective manner. Team player that cultivates collaboration and leadership throughout the global organization. Ability to travel as needed – 10% International Tax experience required. The position can be located in Miami (preferred) or it can be located anywhere else in the US.
