Job Description: We're hiring a Senior Engineer to work onsite at our Columbia, MD FCC pilot plant. As a Senior Engineer, you will report to the Principal Engineer and be responsible for the scale up of new products and to develop and improve manufacturing processes of the Refining Technologies product line. Responsibilities: Scale up new products from lab to plants: Carry out experiments to determine the effect of processing variables on product properties and performance. Collaborate effectively with Research, Manufacturing, and Engineering for the introduction of new products and new plant capabilities. Project planning and execution to drive projects from concept to commercialization, including startup and successful transfer to manufacturing. Apply engineering principles to: Ensure safe, environmentally responsible processes are transferred to production. Solve chemical and process engineering problems. Lead productivity projects in the manufacturing environment to improve quality, lower cost and increase rates. Provide necessary technical support for manufacturing processes. Communicate project progress, risks, options, barriers, and recommendations effectively to technical and non-technical audiences. Ensure compliance to site safety and environmental regulatory requirements including but not limited to completing safe-work authorizations, preparing equipment specific energy isolation procedures, preparing year-end emission reports, leading MOC/PHAs and incident investigations. Assist in training and development of new technicians. Maintain standards for housekeeping and equipment maintenance through 5S program. Manage contractor work within pilot plant. Physical Requirements: Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials. Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator. Required Qualifications: BS in Engineering or Sciences related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in research, development, or manufacturing within the chemical industry. Ability to work safely in laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing environment, to include ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications: MS Degree in an Engineering or Science. Six Sigma or Lean experience – Green Belt certification. Direct experience with alumina, zeolite, refining catalyst, or related inorganic materials. Experience with commercial scale chemical reaction, washing, drying, milling, classification unit operations.
