In this senior role, you will report directly to the CFO, oversee the financial health of the organization, and provide strategic financial leadership. This position will work closely with the CFO and other senior leaders to drive financial strategy, optimize financial performance, and support the company’s growth and sustainability through late-stage clinical and pre-commercial activities.
Responsibilities
Financial & Operations Management:
Lead and oversee the company’s financial, accounting, procurement, and facilities functions. Act as a strategic advisor and business partner to the CFO and executive leadership team. Manage the treasury function, working closely with investment advisors to ensure optimal returns and conduct quarterly reviews and oversee cashflow management. Assist in financings and other potential corporate activities, including partnerships, investments, and major capital expenditures. Financial Strategy and Planning:
Play a key role in the organization’s financial strategy to ensure financial growth and stability. Perform scenario analysis and stress testing to assess the impact of various business decisions and external factors on the company’s financial health. Provide financial insights and projections to support long-term business decisions. Partner with functional leaders in the company to bridge company objectives and growth with financial planning and capital needs. Analyze financial performance and market conditions to provide strategic recommendations. Leadership:
Actively partner with the CFO, CEO, and other senior management to advise on strategic finance, procurement, and facilities initiatives, cost management strategies, and the future direction of the organization. Influence the company’s operations and strategy through sound financial guidance and decision-making. Provide strategic input on capital allocation, growth opportunities, and key investment decisions. Lead, mentor, and develop the finance, procurement, and facility teams, including FP&A, Accounting, and Procurement. Provide oversight and guidance to the Facilities operations team. Risk Management & Compliance:
Oversee risk management processes, including insurance and treasury management, to mitigate financial risks. Understand and support compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements for publicly traded companies, including familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance. Investor Relations:
Support the CFO and CEO in financial communications with investors and analysts. Assist in preparing presentations on the company's financial performance, clinical progress, and strategic outlook. Contribute to effectively communicating the company's value proposition and development strategy to the investment community. Communication:
Present financial results, insights, and strategic recommendations to senior management, the board of directors, and other stakeholders. Oversee preparation of the company’s quarterly financial press release. Foster cross-functional collaboration between finance, operations, IT, and other departments to drive financial and business results. The Ideal Candidate Will Meet These Requirements
Experience in biotech/pharma required, with focus on late-stage clinical and pre-commercial companies. Strong leadership and communication skills. Strategic thinking and business acumen. Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability. Experience with financial modeling, analysis, investor relations, and strategic planning. Deep knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Demonstrated leadership and management experience (12+ years). Strong knowledge of corporate financial and risk management practices. Strong understanding of accounting, audit, and regulatory compliance. Experience working cross-functionally, at a senior management level. High-level understanding of procurement function and facilities operations is preferred. 12+ years of progressively responsible financial leadership roles, including experience at publicly traded companies. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required. MBA or advanced degree in Finance preferred. CPA, CFA, or CMA is a plus. Compensation : Alumis compensation packages include generous stock option grants for all employees as well as an annual bonus program. The Salary Band is $300,000 - $330,000.
This position is located in South San Francisco, CA and employees are expected to be onsite Tuesday-Thursday. At this time we are not considering remote applicants.
