Position Information
This position is 100% AgriLife Research as the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (Ag IACUC) Administrator. The administrator will ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations by provides supervision of other employees and administrative oversight of the ag IACUC Committee's activities such as protocol review, records maintenance as well as conducting initial administrative and technical review of all Ag IACUC protocol submissions and provide guidance to researchers working on animal research and husbandry.
Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Associate Director and Chief Scientific Officer of Texas A&M AgriLife Research.

Position Information
This position is 100% AgriLife Research as the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (Ag IACUC) Administrator. The administrator will ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations by provides supervision of other employees and administrative oversight of the ag IACUC Committee's activities such as protocol review, records maintenance as well as conducting initial administrative and technical review of all Ag IACUC protocol submissions and provide guidance to researchers working on animal research and husbandry.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, execute, and administer all major meetings of the Ag IACUC. Provide support for committee meetings by preparing review materials, reports, and other meeting related documents.
- Serve as an Ag IACUC Committee Member (non-scientist).
- Coordinates a cohesive leadership team and facilitates regular communication amongst the Chair, AV, and a non-scientific member.
- Ensures keeping of records and administrative documents of the Ag IACUC. Maintain electronic paper files ensuring all are up-to-date and complete.
- Facilitate and coordinate the workflow between other institutional organizations (BOHP, IBC, Ethics & Compliance, and university IACUC) and the Ag IACUC to maintain compliance and accuracy of protocols.
- Ensure proper review and implementation of protocols by conducting initial administrative and technical review of all Ag IACUC protocol submissions. This includes conducting pre reviews for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure continued education and training opportunities for the Ag IACUC Committee.
- Proactively advocate for animal welfare and research success.
- Respond to audit requests and follow through with necessary tasks requested after the system audit.
- Oversee and coordinate the semi-annual facility inspections by the Ag IACUC.
- Serve as a liaison to Principal Investigators (PIs), their staff and students as well as being the entry point for all protocols and modifications that enter the "system", providing regulatory guidance and input to prepare the applications for formal Committee review.
- Consulting with Principal Investigators and research staff on protocol submissions and second round submissions based on knowledge of institutional guidelines, and federal regulations for animals in research/teaching/testing, consult and advise the faculty, staff, and students in the preparation of protocols or clarification of topics.
- Oversee development or modification of standard business practices and office processes related to the Ag IACUC
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of experience with compliance which includes experience in research animal use and care.
- Knowledge of institutional guidelines, and federal regulations for animals in research/teaching/testing.
- Excellent knowledge of basic regulatory requirements for research/teaching/testing involving animals.
- Ability to deliver quality professional products in a timely manner.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to excellence.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge and experience working with database and spread sheet software.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Five years of supervisory or project management experience is preferred
