Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Project Engineer 3 opportunity for in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Per diem for those who qualify.
Location: 100% On-Site
Group/Organization: PIE-2, 71D02C
Work Schedule: 9/80 schedule

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance

Summary:
Supervises the engineering activity (all disciplines) on a project, or designated portions of a project, for a global business unit. Plans and directs engineering assignments on the project. Demonstrates technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating these assignments

Candidate will perform as lead technical representative for engineering activities pertaining to planning, design, execution and closeout of Design Change Forms (DCF) in accordance with the LANL Engineering Standards Manual (ESM) and applicable national and nuclear codes and standards, e.g., NEC, IBC, ASME, NFPA, ASCE, etc.; lead and manage design development of DCFs from a subcontracted A/E; provide support to subcontracted equipment fabrication and subcontracted construction / equipment installation. Candidate will also verify A/E design compliance at each design development stage, i.e., 30/60/90/100 percent maturity. Specific requirements and responsibilities include but are not limited to,

  • Manage technical requirements during design, fabrication, execution and testing.
  • Work with and coordinate interfaces among design, execution, A/E, SMEs and others.
  • Work with an Integrated Project Team (IPT) to ensure scope, requirements, safety, and schedule are implemented and maintained.
  • Manage and process deviation requests, nonconformances, requests for information and changes to issued design when needed.
  • Support fabrication and execution activities and schedules through progress tracking.


Education:
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience. Relevant work experience can be satisfied by nuclear work in the DOD, DOE or commercial nuclear industry space, to include activities such as project design, design supervision, program support or similar, and working with subcontracts.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Familiarity with project cost and scheduling, and aptitude to become a certified Control Account Manager (CAM) under the Earned Value Management System.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications as well as comfortable working skills in desktop automation.
Desired Skills:
Microsoft Suite, good communication, mentor, technical and presentation skills

Advanced degrees, FE certification, PE registration and previous CAM experience are highly desirable.
