Director of Group Sales

As the Director of Group Sales, you will execute a sales strategy supporting the organization's overall strategic goals. As an active member of the extended Executive Team at Alyeska Resort, you will use your innate resourcefulness and drive to lead a team of high performers. You will be the champion of managing the resort's proactive sales efforts; leading and teaching individuals to make business decisions that are focused on upholding the highest quality standards in guest service while delivering against key financial goals and performance metrics; sharing responsibility for achieving group revenue targets.

You will be responsible for the implementation of the brand's service strategy and all applicable brand initiatives in every aspect of the sales process; managing and achieving revenue targets for corporate bookings of 200+ room nights. Your authentic leadership style and genuine interactions will support the positive culture and working environment we have developed amongst our sales and events team; continuing to develop rapport and trust for our division throughout the organization.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Functions as the leader of the property's on-site group sales Solicits, books and manages corporate groups of 200+ rooms. Developing long-term, value-based relationships.
  • Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contracts, customer correspondence). Executes and supports Marriott's Customer Service Standards and hotel's Brand.
  • Conducts weekly Sales Meetings (Funnel, DBR, Group Pick-Up) to evaluate business and ensure fiscal revenue targets are being actively pursued against personal and team goals.
  • Manage Third Party relationships to ensure we receive maximum benefits and support.
  • Successfully negotiate contracts taking into consideration all stakeholders and liaising with the DOSR when required.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Sales Team.
  • Actively participates and engages in recruitment strategies and hiring processes to ensure we remain a desirable workplace attracting top talent.
  • Tracking and analyzing results to provide action plans and commentary related to the sales team's performance; both through formal written executive commentaries or as required by our external stakeholders.
  • Works with the marketing team to create and implement a group sales/marketing plan addressing revenue, customers and the market as it relates to group business.
  • Leads/Participates in the development of the overall strategic planning efforts and the maintenance of these plans on a monthly basis.
  • Develop initiatives to increase revenues, control expenses, and deliver financial results. Coordinates and deploys group sales resources on-property to monitor the pull-through and sustainment of sales strategies and selling solutions.
  • Represents Alyeska Resort at Tradeshows and Events in a professional manner. Works with Group Sales Managers to effectively plan and execute all travel and tradeshow needs on a rolling 30/60/90 forecast cycle.
  • Works with Spa GM and Spa Sales coordinator to formalize cross selling opportunities, determine targets, revenue generating opportunities and reporting on business conversion.
  • Executes assigned deliverables in a manner that requires little or no follow-up regarding timeliness, scope, and quality.
  • Does not allow shortfalls to operating standards to go unaddressed; supported by clearly communicated expectations and real-time coaching.

Essential skills and experience:
  • Completion of Post Secondary education in Hospitality or Sales is an asset.
  • Previous experience with Opera, CI/TY, MARSHA, Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams is an asset.
  • Previous customer and/or administrative experience.
  • Previous experience in high-volume administration with a high attention to detail, and high organization skills.
  • Superior guest service skills with Problem-solving abilities.
  • 5 years related hospitality experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
