Daikin Applied is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer lV (Power Electronics and Motors) who will support the design and application of power electronics including VFDs, transformers, power quality filters, and motors. This role will research, model, develop, design, and test 3-phase (low, medium, and high) voltage electrical components, equipment, and systems by performing the duties listed below.
Location: In office, Plymouth, MN or Staunton, VA
What you will do:
- Design and model electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, domestic and internal purposes.
- Design and direct engineering personnel in the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
- Develop applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses.
- Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operation testing conform to UL safety certifications.
- Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Direct and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field and internal installations.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university.
- Must have 10+ years of related experience.
- Experience with VFD, Motors and Power Electronics required.
- Experience with UL 508a, UL 1995, UL 60335-2-40 a plus.
