Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The maintenance electrician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the forge plant to ensure uninterrupted production and adherence to safety standards. This role requires expertise in electrical systems, equipment, and machinery commonly used in the forging industry
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as replacing worn-out components, lubricating moving parts, and cleaning electrical panels.
Troubleshooting and Repair:
Diagnose electrical malfunctions and breakdowns using schematic diagrams, testing equipment, and knowledge of electrical systems.
Repair or replace faulty electrical components, including motors, switches, relays, circuit breakers, and transformers, to restore equipment functionality.
Ensure Compliance with Safety Standards:
Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working on electrical systems to prevent accidents, injuries, and equipment damage.
Conduct safety checks on electrical equipment and machinery to identify and rectify potential hazards.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns or electrical failures to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues under time-sensitive conditions to restore operations as quickly as possible.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and inspections, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or logs.
Generate reports detailing maintenance activities, equipment performance, and recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
Collaboration and Communication:
Coordinate with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and production teams to schedule maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to production processes.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to report maintenance findings, discuss solutions, and prioritize tasks.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certification or apprenticeship in electrical maintenance preferred.
Proven experience as an electrician in an industrial setting, preferably in a forge plant or similar heavy manufacturing environment.
In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and equipment commonly used in forging operations.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures related to electrical work, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical problems efficiently.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders effectively.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks that may require climbing, bending, and lifting heavy objects. As a maintenance electrician in a forge plant, you play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of electrical systems and equipment essential for the forging process. PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS:
Lift and Carry: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
Standing Walking: Ability to stand for extended periods and walk long distances, often on concrete or uneven surfaces and up and down steps.
Repetitive Motion: Capable of performing repetitive tasks, including grasping, lifting, twisting and bending.
Hand-eye coordination: Ability to use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, and controls and make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
Fine Motor Skills: Ability to use manual dexterity to operate levers, buttons, and controls
Vision Attention to Detail: good close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus and ensure safe operations, including reading gauges and safety indicators.
Physical Stamina: Ability to maintain focus and physical energy throughout the workday, which may include handling loads, stacking, and organizing materials in a fast-paced environment.
Balance Mobility: Must have good balance and be able to move freely in tight spaces.
Environmental Conditions: Ability to work in various conditions including varying temperatures, exposure to manufacturing oils and fluids and moderate noise levels.
