POSITION PURPOSE
Oppenheimer Companies, Inc has built an over-the-top customer service culture within our businesses. This role will continue that ethos by providing exceptional support to the Golbon Food Service Division of OCI. Specifically, the incumbent’s role is to increase our financial returns to our distributor members, and drive growth to our supplier partners through negotiation of approved supplier agreements, management of all supplier relationships, and successful execution of private branded and category development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain relationships and ongoing communications with suppliers of responsibility.
- Enhance supplier programs to increase returns for members and Golbon, including removing program exclusions, adding items and categories, and improving program rates.
- Utilize reporting to identify trends and develop plans to rectify lost sales and program dollars.
- Negotiate annual marketing programs with suppliers to drive incremental revenue.
- Maximize allowances for conferences and promotions by increasing the number of items promoted and increasing the promotional amount.
- Provide timely and effective responses and feedback to Member Development, Suppliers and Golbon Members.
- Solicit conference participation for all non-marketing suppliers.
- Work with Member Development to identify and execute conversions from non-Golbon suppliers to Golbon approved suppliers.
- Develop sales initiatives that support growth and will exceed supplier expectations.
- Identify, solicit, and sign key regional and national suppliers that fill our product offering voids.
- Solicit programs with suppliers that will assist members in improving their qualified sales participation.
- Regional Supplier Development – Identify, solicit, and sign key regional suppliers that fill our product offering void.
- Develop additional buy/sell invoice programs.
Growth Program
- Develop growth programs with key suppliers to benefit distributors and suppliers.
- Create reporting that is transparent and timely for members.
- Develop sales initiatives that support growth that will exceed supplier expectations.
Management
- Lead, support and motivate direct reports in achieving personal and company goals.
- Embrace a lead role in planning and executing Semi-Annual Conferences.
- Support company Strategic Initiatives towards achievement of Golbon budgeted income goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five years foodservice management experience in a corporate or group affiliated distributor purchasing/merchandising department.
- Knowledge of basic accounting practices.
- Knowledge of supplier base/categories/products.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated strength in presentation skills.
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Self-motivated and ability to motivate others.
- Strong leader in a team environment.
- Ability to train product knowledge.
- Flexibility in hours available to work.
- Travel required – approximately 25%.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to communicate results and needs to management and team members at every level of the organization.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to and including 20 lbs.
