About the role
As CFO, you will serve as a key business partner to the executive team, acting as both a critical leader and hands-on operator in helping drive the company’s strategic decision-making, financial operations, and investor relations. You will be a vocal champion of the company’s financial health, guiding smart strategic growth decisions and identifying opportunities to improve the company’s unit economics and profitability. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will have ownership for FP&A, Accounting, and Analytics functions.
What you'll do
- Build, mentor, and develop a world-class, well-organized finance function, including accounting, financial operations, and strategic finance.
- Lead and update the annual budgeting, forecasting and planning processes in partnership with department heads and senior leadership.
- Develop financial models to help drive strategic business initiatives including fundraising, product expansion, and new partnerships.
- Deliver clear and concise presentations with financial data for different stakeholders, including the board, senior leadership team, investors and other strategic/financial partners.
- Partner with senior leadership to drive fundraising strategy, including investor meetings and diligence.
- Identify and onboard the company’s financial tools and technologies, including financial reporting, revenue management, billing, general ledger, cap table management, and more.
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting for all stakeholders including board, bank, investors, and internal stakeholders.
- Operational leadership, including continuous improvement of accounting policies, processes, and systems for scale, managing stock administration and 409a valuations, coordinating corporate tax reporting and preparation, and managing outside vendors.
Qualifications
- Experience providing financial leadership in a fast-paced, high growth software business that has ideally scaled to $100M+.
- Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities, think critically, and problem-solve in environments with ambiguity and constant change.
- 10+ years of experience leading finance and accounting functions at quickly growing, early-stage startups; 5+ years of experience managing and building a team.
- Deep understanding of enterprise SaaS metrics, models, and benchmarks.
- Mastery of financial analysis and forecasting, including experience with three statement financial modeling, preparing statistical reports, and making recommendations based on analysis and research.
- Strong financial and accounting acumen that is demonstrated internally and externally.
- Experience with fundraising, possessing the ability to establish trust and build rapport with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience overseeing board preparation and documentation.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills, with experience partnering across an executive team, especially as it relates to communicating financial data.
