About the role

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Time Products team. Our team is responsible for essential products that enable our customers to manage their workforce on a global scale. We are working on multiple areas including Time & Attendance, Leave Management, and soon-to-be-released Scheduling products. This team is at the forefront of Rippling’s exciting international expansion, and will be launching critical product initiatives in 2024.

Wear many hats.

Writing and reviewing code goes without saying, but at Rippling, engineers do a lot more than just engineering. You’ll quickly become an expert on the product area and spend time talking to users, planning our product roadmap, and working on go-to-market initiatives. As an early member on a new team, you’ll also play a major role in shaping the team’s culture and organization to help us scale.

What you will do

  • Write great code and build great products.
  • Ship fast – but with a high quality bar. As a staff engineer, you’ll help define and enforce this bar for the team, as well find solutions that allow the team to move quickly with a high degree of safety. At Rippling, we believe that software is a powerful tool to “free smart people to do hard things”, and that applies to the tools and processes we use internally as well.
  • Lead technical design discussions for new features, as well as providing feedback on other engineers’ designs.
  • Mentor junior members, lead and practice engineering excellence.

What you will need

  • 7+ years of experience in backend product engineering using Python, Django, or related technologies.
  • Strong CS/algorithms fundamentals.
  • You have seen systems operating at a significant technical and organizational scale.
  • Strong product intuition: you care about design and user experience and are quick to identify how these could be improved.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: you thrive in unstructured environments and enjoy identifying big problems in addition to solving them.
