The Development Director, reporting to the Director of Advancement and External Affairs (DAEA) and working closely with the Executive Director, will direct and manage the backbone of all fundraising operations, with an initial focus leading the event fundraising strategy for upcoming major events over MLK weekend 2023. This role manages a rapid flow of work, handling many daily tasks spanning multiple projects, with a need to toggle between big picture, long-term strategic priorities, and time-sensitive details.

The Development Director is a key contributor in the planning and execution of a comprehensive development plan based on long and short-term goals. The Development Director holds shared responsibility for all fundraising initiatives and will help represent the organization as needed at external events and meetings. We want a leader who is eager to be a part of building an institution, is self-directed, and wants to bring their ideas and energy.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Direct and manage all fundraising operations.
  2. Lead the event fundraising strategy for major events.
  3. Contribute to the planning and execution of a comprehensive development plan.
  4. Represent the organization at external events and meetings.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

The Development Director is a relationship-builder able to adapt their communication style to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including the Executive Team and other members of the Advancement and External Affairs Team. They bring vision and warmth to building long-term partnerships grounded in a commitment to achieving equity in the city of Boston. They use restorative and transformative practices and have a commitment to engaging in fundraising that contributes to healing from and dismantling White supremacy culture and structural racism. They are organized, solutions-oriented, self-directed, flexible and demonstrate leadership and initiative, while also being a committed and contributing team player.

COMPENSATION

Position Budgeted: $90,000.00 to $110,000.00
