As a Principal Customer Delivery Architect, you will serve as a pivotal technology and strategy advisor for AWS's key enterprise customers across the Americas region. This role requires a deep understanding of AWS technologies and the broader technology ecosystem. You will engage directly with CTOs and CIOs to drive strategic technology initiatives, ensuring that AWS services align with and enhance our customers’ IT and business strategies. Your expertise will help our customers enhance their innovation speed, IT efficiency, and the business value derived from their technological investments.

You will drive the development of innovative tools and solutions that accelerate the pre-sales cycle for AWS customers, driving technical excellence and innovation. This role requires exceptional business acumen, a commitment to continuous learning, and a deep obsession with customer success. Your ability to deliver strategic, hands-on solutions that create significant technical and business outcomes will be key to achieving the desired impact at scale.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Strategic Direction and Development:
    - Define and develop overall strategic direction to AWS customers and internal AWS teams designing, building, optimizing, transforming or otherwise migrating applications, software, and services on the AWS platform.
    - Be the point of contact for the AWS Global Leader on accelerating innovation, account strategy, technical execution aligning to increasing business value through cloud adoption, covering people, processes, and technology aspects.
    - Engage with C-level executives to guide their strategic technology initiatives and support their transformation journeys.
    - Participate in deep architectural discussions and design exercises to create world-class solutions built on AWS while ensuring solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
    - Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to enable them to be cloud advocates.
  2. Leadership and Collaboration:
    - Drive the development of outcome-based business-IT solution proposals in collaboration with sales and solution architecture teams.
    - Act as the AWS executive technical sponsor for strategic customer initiatives, ensuring alignment with AWS’s Global Service offerings and the customer's strategic goals.
    - Ensure that the solutions across strategic programs adhere to AWS’s enterprise architecture and security best practices and principles, and achieve intended business outcomes.
    - Mentor and lead internal teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the organization.
    - Capture and share best-practice knowledge, sales and delivery content amongst the AWS Professional Services community.
  3. Partnership Development:
    - Engage with system integrators and strategic Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) across various customer scenarios to enhance solution offerings.
    - Identify common patterns in customer needs to drive standardization and repeatability in AWS solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
  2. 10+ years in senior IT roles, including leadership positions, with direct engagement with C-suite executives.
  3. Experience with managing multi-year cloud transformations impacting 10,000+ users across multiple business units and geographies.
  4. 5+ years designing and delivering enterprise-level AWS solutions, driving $50M+ in business value.
  5. 5+ years developing organizational strategies and collaborating across technical and non-technical teams, managing cross-functional teams of 50+ members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Industry-specific expertise in Financial Services, Healthcare, or Manufacturing.
  2. Proven track record of innovation, driving the adoption of cutting-edge AWS technologies for enterprise transformation.
  3. Experience developing compliance strategies in highly regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA, SOX).
  4. Recognized industry thought leader with publications, conference presentations, or contributions to industry forums.
  5. Led cloud strategies across multiple business units, ensuring cohesive enterprise adoption.
