POSITION SUMMARY

The Industrial Robot Technician will be responsible for programming, troubleshooting, debugging, and preparing robots for the manufacturing process. Creating robot programs and interfacing with system PLC from start to finish. Ability to teach and train employees as well as maintain, service, and repair as needed. This is a technical hands-on position that involves setting up/programming the robots on a shop floor, integrating them into a production facility, and providing automation support when completed. It can also require any one of these aspects separately.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Set up communication with the PLC and peripheral equipment
  • Complete and maintain documentation on programs
  • Robot I/O Configuration
  • Robot Mastering, TCP verification, and Payload setup. Primarily use Fanuc, ABB
  • Auto Debug with PLC and troubleshooting
  • Cycle time reduction and throughput improvement
  • Work with with Fanuc DCS, ABB SafeMove, UR Robotics, Kawasaki and Dosan
  • Program various processes (material handling, load/unload, dispense, etc.)
  • Follow job from integration to installation and support production startup.
  • Write Robot Software. ABB Robot Studio is preferred
  • Load Robot Programs and configure I/O
  • Path Teaching, Vision Teaching (if required)
  • Installation Start-Up support
  • Production Support
  • Provide technical support in developing and improving processes
  • Installation and configuration of appropriate hardware and software options
  • Ability to perform electrical diagnosis, recommend repair and/or perform repair as needed
  • Provide support to assembly operators and maintenance and other departments about robot’s functionality
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associates or certificate in PLC or Controls and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an industrial controls-related field related to robotics
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Teams and SharePoint
  • Experience with setup and training on Vision Systems
  • Experience setting up various robot communication protocols (i.e., Device Net, Profibus, ProfNet, Ethernet IP)
  • Strong Electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Very proficient with Robotic Path Teaching
  • Experience with Vision is a plus
  • Ability to do basic/intermediate programming in other programming languages (i.e. Visual Basic, C or C++ language and Python)
  • Troubleshooting experience with PLC programs
  • Ability to program Robotic Systems
  • Knowledge of Interfacing robot with PLC
  • Knowledge of communication set up with robot peripherals
  • Knowledge of robot motion systems, TCP's and RTCP's
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems
  • Ability to read schematics and other drawings
  • 2+ years of experience with ABB or Fanuc Robot Programming, a plus
  • Ability to read, speak, write, & understand English in a professional manner
  • Strong initiative, innovative, and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Occasionally travel to Wisconsin facilities for special projects and training
  • Ability with occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Regularly stand for long periods of time as well as walk with occasional bend, and twist
