Job Duties:
  • Provides outpatient therapy to adults and families, also consultation to other employees.
  • Performs work tasks as an Addiction Counselor in areas of assessments; group, individual, and family counseling; lectures; crisis intervention; and outcome reports.
  • Development of treatment plans for families and individuals.
  • Conducts team evaluation and treatment planning for clients and case staffing.
  • Maintain program record keeping in a professional and timely manner and in accordance with program and state requirements.
  • Conduct diagnostic/placement assessments; provide group, individual, and family counseling services, client lectures, and case management services, in accordance with best clinical practices, laws, and administrative rules.
  • Under supervision of Licensed Addiction Counselor and/or Therapist identify, coordinate, and/or provide direct care to consumers with co-occurring disorders.
  • Must maintain 24 billable hours per week.
  • Offer crisis stabilization services, as needed. Refer individuals to needed adjunct services and/or appropriate level of care.
  • Provide training and presentations to community groups and agencies on related substance abuse topics.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with federal and state laws.
  • Reports to the Addictions Licensed Program Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:

Licensed Addiction Counselor: Comprehensive knowledge of addiction, theoretical models of therapeutic change processes, and best clinical practices; the most current DSM; group theory and practice; instructional techniques; family education and support; working knowledge of assessment procedures, including diagnostics and placement; knowledge of laws and administrative rules relevant to chemical dependency, mental health, and confidentiality; of community resources and referral procedures; and thorough knowledge of ethical performance standards and their application.

Therapist: Thorough knowledge of the field of mental health and of the principles of administering modern mental health clinics; thorough knowledge of community resources useful in the treatment and prevention of emotional maladjustment.

Thorough knowledge of theory and practice in the field of specialization at a level appropriate for the training and experience required, thorough knowledge of the principles of community organization.

Thorough knowledge of principles and methods of supervision and in-service training; considerable knowledge of the scope and activities of public and private health and welfare agencies. Ability to plan, organize, and develop a mental health program; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the center staff and community groups; to work closely with allied disciplines; and to speak effectively before lay and professional audiences. Ability to supervise others and evaluate their work, to give in-service training; to secure professional, psychological or social work data and to record such data systematically; to interpret and evaluate the data and develop recommendations; and to write clear and accurate reports.

Education & Experience:
  • An Associate or bachelor's degree in addictions, psychology, counseling, or a related field from an accredited university is required.
  • Graduation from a college or university with a master's degree in social work or counseling.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the Recovery philosophies.
  • If unlicensed must be credentialed with MT Board of Behavioral Health as a Social Worker Licensure Candidate or Professional Counselor Licensure Candidate.
  • Dual license LCPC or LCSW is preferred.
  • Must be licensed as an Addiction Counselor.
  • An equivalent combination of study and experience; 2000 hours of supervised work experience in addictions counseling and certification.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, valid vehicle insurance and personal vehicle.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
