Job Summary

As Senior Manager for Strategic Convening, the position directs matters related to DC-based convening. This person also manages DC-based operations related to Brussels Forum, GMF's flagship event. This includes project management, budget, team management and recruitment of speakers. The role also includes significant external relations: sustaining relationships with existing GMF partners and pursuing new partnerships; liaising with senior officials; and negotiating with multiple stakeholders in developing the Brussels Forum agenda. Working closely with the Brussels-based Managing Director of Strategic Convening, the Senior Manager also contributes to developing and sharing best practices for convening across GMF.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Strategic Convening
  • Provide oversight of large and smaller scale GMF DC based events with regard to resource management, scheduling, developing formats, production, and allocation of intellectual and operational capacities
  • Working closely with GMF's AV team to improve virtual and hybrid convening activities at GMF.
  • Expanding networks of policy makers in the United States in particular to improve and increase high-level participation at GMF's major conferences
  • Coordinate with all GMF programs, offices and fellows on all issues pertaining to Brussels Forum (agenda, speakers, partners, etc.)
  • Communicate with and manage relationships with external stakeholders, including partners (fundraising), prospects and senior speakers
  • Manage and train team members
  • Budget management: liaise with vendors and negotiate contracts
  • Participate in Brussels Forum production planning, operations, and implementation
  • Coordinate and plan other GMF major convening such as the NATO Public Forum
  • Coordinate and plan other GMF strategic events
  • In cooperation with the Managing Director, develop, implement, and share convening best practices across GMF
  • In cooperation with the Managing Director, oversee adherence to GMF convening best practices across programs
Knowledge and Skills Needed
  • Policy knowledge (transatlantic relations, EU and NATO affairs)
  • Project management and strategic planning
  • Leadership development/mentoring/coaching
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the policy sector
  • Detail oriented and able to work under pressure; ability to react quickly and creatively to changing circumstances
  • Experience in managing budgets and external partnerships
  • Ability to work effectively in a multinational work environment with oversight of multiple projects and staff
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in any foreign policy field
  • Additional degree or management related certificate, helpful

Salary: $101,676 - $127,095
