Job Title: Agile Scrum Trainer

Location: Washington DC/ Hybrid

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and certified Agile Scrum Trainer to lead and mentor both new and experienced Agile Scrum teams. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, substantial experience in coaching and training, and a proven track record of successfully implementing Agile transformations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Training and Certification:
    • Conduct comprehensive training programs for new and experienced teams on Agile principles, Scrum framework, SAFe, and other Agile methodologies.
    • Certify employees in various Agile roles and practices including SAFe Agilist, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, and SAFe Scrum Master.
    • Develop and deliver customized Agile workshops and training programs to enhance understanding and adoption of Agile methodologies across the organization.
  2. Coaching and Mentoring:
    • Provide one-on-one and team coaching to enhance skills in JIRA backlog management, prioritization, and stakeholder communication.
    • Offer day-to-day support, helping teams navigate challenges and continuously improve their Agile practices.
    • Coach senior leaders on Agile best practices and strategies, ensuring top-down support and alignment for Agile initiatives.
  3. Facilitation and Implementation:
    • Expertly facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning, Mid-PI Check-ins, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
    • Lead the implementation of Agile transformation efforts, successfully integrating Agile practices across multiple projects and departments.
    • Develop, implement, and track Agile metrics and maturity models to measure the impact of Agile adoption on project performance.
  4. Agile Transformation Leadership:
    • Design and implement roadmaps for Agile adoption, ensuring successful transformation and effective scaling of Agile practices.
    • Establish and standardize JIRA SOP and train teams to effectively use JIRA and Confluence.
    • Drive continuous improvement by establishing Agile maturity metrics and assessments focusing on backlog health, velocity, and throughput.
  5. Content Development:
    • Create dynamic training materials and videos for new employees, teams, and contractors.
    • Develop Agile training content covering Agile methodologies, team performance models, change management models, and coaching models.
    • Maintain and improve Agile playbooks, defining roles, responsibilities, and workflows to align with organizational goals.
  6. Community Building:
    • Lead the creation and growth of Agile Communities of Practice (CoP) to foster continuous learning and improvement.
    • Collaborate with the Tools Team to configure Agile management tools effectively.
    • Partner with stakeholders to create and maintain a toolbox of enterprise-wide Agile initiatives.

    • ICAgile Expert - Agile Coaching (ICE-AC) - in-progress
    • ICAgile Certified Professional - Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC)
    • ICAgile Certified Professional - Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-ATF)
    • Certified Scrum@Scale Practitioner (CS@SP)
    • Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM)

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Finance & Investments, or Mathematics
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience leading Agile transformations and coaching teams at various levels of Agile maturity.
    • Extensive experience with JIRA and Confluence, including administration and training.
    • Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to lead workshops and training sessions effectively.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and mentor individuals and teams.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Agile metrics and maturity models.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with large-scale Agile transformations in government or defense sectors.
  • Familiarity with various Agile methodologies, including SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, and Lean.
  • Ability to create and deliver training content and workshops tailored to different audiences.
