Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Java Software Engineer to join the API Market Technology Center of Excellence within the Workplace Investing (WI) Technology team. This role involves designing and supporting robust REST APIs for a high-impact API Gateway platform. The ideal candidate will contribute to building a modern, digital API ecosystem that improves customer experiences, expands market reach, and integrates legacy and third-party systems. This position is based at Merrimack NH, Smithfield RI, or Westlake TX. Key Responsibilities • Develop, test, and engineer REST APIs on an open-source API gateway platform. • Coordinate multiple development work streams, ensuring scalable and extensible architecture. • Define, maintain, and support Java development best practices using tools like Maven and Sonar. • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production and non-production environments. • Deliver API Platform capabilities using Envoy, Microgateway, JWT, Key Management, and more. • Perform code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing using open-source frameworks. • Lead API design using SwaggerHub to build, collaborate, and integrate APIs. • Manage API migration to Kubernetes and Azure. • Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous learning. • Decommission legacy assets and drive new API product adoption in the marketplace. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering. • 8 years of hands-on development experience in Java, Spring MVC/Spring Boot, and RESTful Web Services. • Strong knowledge of API management tools, such as Envoy-based API Gateway. • Proficiency in CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Maven, and uDeploy. • Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), Docker, and Agile/Scrum methodologies. • Proficiency with IDEs like Spring Tool Suite and Eclipse in UNIX and Windows environments. • Ability to articulate API strategies effectively to stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with API frameworks and designing scalable solutions. • Knowledge of infrastructure needs for API platform offerings in enterprise cloud computing. • Familiarity with Datadog and other monitoring tools.
