TITLE: Land Manager

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelors degree in resource management, planning or related field andfour years experience in land management. An additional four years ofprofessional experience in land management may be substituted for theformal education requirement. A demonstrated ability to read maps aswell as knowledge of legal property descriptions. This individual mustbe able to physically lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to setpriorities, organize, coordinate work efficiently, and establish goodpersonal relations with other office workers and work independently andcreatively. Must be able to communicate well, both verbally and writtenformat, and prepare and present technically correct and detailedmaterial through presentations. Must be at least eighteen years of age,possess a valid driver license and be insurable.

OVERVIEW:

The land management officer is responsible for the Nations landinventory and classification program, land disposal program throughsale, lease or exchange, and land acquisitions. Additionalresponsibilities involve coordination with federal, state and localgovernments on land management issues. Land Managers, maintain anddevelop forests, rangelands and other natural sites for conservation orresource development

RESPONSIBILITIES AMD DUTIES:

• Other duties maybe assigned and required by the KNED Director.
• Work with private landowners and government agents
• Maintain current knowledge of pertinent legislation and land useregulations
• Design and implement ways to improve the land with minimalenvironmental impact
• Design, implement and evaluate programs to sustain the land and itswildlife
• Choose and prepare sites for planting trees and other crops
• Monitor grazing lands for signs of disease, insect infestation andover grazing
• Lead Based Paint inspections and Risk Assessments as needed
• Home energy audits and assessments
