Mid-level Systems Engineer

ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Mid-Level Systems Engineer to join our team in the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard.
Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer will directly support the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Digital, Network, Cyber Group (DNCG) System Engineering Manager. Supported areas may include: Machinery Control and Monitoring System (MCMS), Federated Machinery Local Area Network (FMLAN), Steering Gear Control System, Voice, Video, Navigation, Integrated Bridge System. Auxiliary and/or Electrical System field device support, data logging and damage control software applications. Occasional travel to the Tidewater area of Virginia may be expected in this position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Function as a cognizant systems engineer for assigned projects, proactively managing all relevant tasking within these projects.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams, building consensus with numerous stakeholders, and coordinating with teams of engineers and support staff to complete projects.
- Coordinate in small teams (2 to 6 staff members) on multiple projects, including technical feedback and guidance, task tracking, and team communications.
- Review reports and study results from government and industry partners, providing technical recommendations, adjudicating comments, and preparing official technical correspondence.
- Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), Ship Repair Facility (SRF), and other activities to resolve technical matters.
- Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc., and provide technical recommendations.
- Develop formal presentations to brief senior officials.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following areas: Machinery Control and Monitoring System (MCMS), Federated Machinery Local Area Network (FMLAN), Steering Gear Control System, Voice, Video, Navigation, Integrated Bridge System, Auxiliary and/or Electrical System field device support, data logging, and damage control software applications.
- Project management, technical writing, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience with shipboard networks and systems with Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine.
- Prior Carrier, Submarine, or Surface Ship (Navy or Coast Guard) system engineering experience is preferred, but not required.
Clearance Requirement:
Must have an active or current Secret security clearance and U.S. Citizenship.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations and exchanging accurate information.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
