About the team and the role
The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solutions Architect team partners with customers to design and build some of the most scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architectures and solutions. AWS Solutions Architects collaborate with AWS Sales and other AWS teams to help address customer business challenges and accelerate the adoption of AWS services. You will engage with product owners to influence product direction and help our customers tap into new markets by utilizing AWS Services. You will also look for patterns and trends that can be broadly applied across an industry segment or a set of customers that can help accelerate innovation.
The Strategic Account Segment was created to strengthen the deep collaborative relationship AWS has with flagship customers like Capital One, Netflix, Amazon, Adobe, and Salesforce. Each of these customers in this segment are pushing the boundaries of how our services are used and are looking for creative ways to broaden their use of AWS to fundamentally transform their business.

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for folks who have technical breadth complemented by technical depth in one or two areas, business aptitude, and the ability to lead in-depth technology discussions, articulating the business value of the AWS platform and services. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for engaging with Enterprise Architects, Technical Architects, Cloud Architects, Directors, VP’s and CXOs.

A day in the life
Strategic account SAs build long-term customer relationships, getting to know the details of each customer’s environment and business. They offer strong technical guidance and proactively seek to improve the architectural position of the customer.
As a core member of the account team, you will drive revenue growth across a specific customer. As a trusted customer advocate, you will help organizations understand and implement advanced cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate and scale existing workloads in the cloud. You will have the opportunity to shape and execute a strategy to build knowledge and broad use of AWS. You will also need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other teams within AWS such as services teams, marketing, and professional services, as well as representing your team to executive management.
Minimum Requirements:
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field of study or 12+ years of related work experience
- 7+ years design & implementation experience with large distributed applications
- 5+ years of experience in core disciplines (E.g. compute, networking, storage, security, database architecture)
- Professional experience architecting, operating cloud-based solutions
- AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
- Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers
- Experience in technology/software sales or pre-sales consulting
- Experience with a programming or scripting language
- Able to adapt to new technologies, learn quickly, and manage high ambiguity.
