Under general supervision, the Airport Systems Integration Lead reports to the Director of Innovation and Solutions within the Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITT) Division of SFO. The SME specializes in airside and landside systems that enable the efficient and safe operation of airports. The SME has working knowledge and first-hand experience in the use of airside systems to coordinate aircraft operations on runways and taxiways. The SME collaborates with ITT developers to provide relevant domain knowledge to aid in the systems integration for common situational awareness of the operations on the airfield, within the terminals, and on the airport’s roadways.
You are excited about this opportunity because you will:
- Analyze current airport operations and document the as-is processes as a business process model.
- Define the business requirements and business rules to address specific operational use cases.
- Assess the current systems that support the airport operation to determine data dependencies between systems.
- Design and develop to-be process models that improve the process through automation.
- Determine the necessary integrations and interfaces needed to support the to-be process.
- Collaborate with the ITT developers to define interface specifications.
- Manage the creation of the Interface Control Document (ICD) as a discrete project.
- Manage an integration project roadmap by working with stakeholders to determine priority for implementation.
- Manage vendor contracts where applicable to realize the integration.
Education: An associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units.
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in system administration, information systems development, maintenance and support, or information technology project management, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years).

- Five years of experience working in aviation operations, airport management, or related roles.
- Verifiable delivery of airport related projects within the last three years.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Project management skills to ensure delivery of data integrations and services on schedule.
- Aviation Certifications: Relevant certifications from aviation organizations.
- Airport Systems: Proficiency in using airport management systems.
- Data Analysis: Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
- Regulatory Familiarity: A good understanding of FAA regulations and TSA safety standards.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills.
- Process Modeling: Ability to model business processes.
- Decision-Making: The ability to make informed decisions quickly.
- Airport Security: Knowledge of airport security measures.
- Airside Systems Expertise:
- Runway and Taxiway Operations: Working knowledge to monitor and manage the safe movement of aircraft.
- Aircraft Parking and Gate Assignment: Working knowledge to coordinate aircraft parking.
- Emergency Response: Working knowledge to coordinate emergency response procedures.
- Landside Systems Expertise:
- Terminal Operations: Working knowledge to oversee the efficient operation of airport terminals.
- Airport Security: Working knowledge to collaborate with security teams.
- Ground Transportation: Working knowledge to manage ground transportation infrastructure.
- Passenger Services: Working knowledge of wayfinding and flight information displays.
- Passenger Flow Analysis: Working knowledge of camera and LIDAR based systems.
- Regulatory Compliance: Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws.
