Location: Patricia Handy Place for Women; In-person Status: Full-Time; Non-Exempt Shift : Sunday - Thursday 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM Organization Overview: N Street Village supports women in Washington, D.C. experiencing homelessness by providing a wide range of services, housing, and advocacy in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. We are looking for dedicated professionals passionate about making a tangible difference in people's lives. Position Overview: As a Program Associate, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team providing essential services to women participating in N Street Village's programs at Patricia Handy Place for Women, which includes low barrier and temporary shelters. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for the women we serve. Key Responsibilities: Develop positive rapport with clients through routine contact and communication Assist with program setup, including preparing breakfast, lunch items, toiletries, laundry, and activity sheets Help close the program each day by cleaning and maintaining day program areas Serve meals to clients Conduct program intake and initial health and wellness screenings Respond to immediate client needs, de-escalate crisis situations, resolve conflicts, and enforce program rules Complete necessary program documentation, including daily activity sheets, reports, and incident reports Support care coordination tasks such as referrals for services and residency forms Report serious incidents and sensitive program information to the Program Manager Collaborate with volunteers and partner agencies providing services to the women Attend program team meetings, staff meetings, and supervision meetings as required Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, external partners, and stakeholders Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance program policies and client outcomes Adhere to N Street Village's policies and procedures Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 1 year of direct social services experience, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 2 years of direct social services experience, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 5 years of work experience Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly those facing addiction and mental illness Familiarity with DC's Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Knowledge of issues affecting homelessness and other vulnerable populations Understanding of trauma-informed care Commitment to inclusivity, providing services without regard to race, religion, ability, sexual orientation, or gender identity Experience with, or willingness to learn, data visualization techniques and software Skills and Competencies: Strong cultural competence and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and crisis management skills Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision Strong written and verbal communication skills Highly organized and detail-oriented Commitment to N Street Village's mission, vision, and values Demonstrates respect for individual differences and cultural diversity Ability to lift up to 25 pounds NSV Benefits Offerings: Health/Wellness: Medical, Dental, Vision Accident, Hospital, and Critical Illness Plans Employee Assistance Program Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Financial: 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan Flexible Spending Accounts SmarTrip Pre-Tax Commuter Benefits Insurance: Life Insurance Time Off: Annual Leave Sick Days Floating Holidays If you are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of women facing homelessness, we encourage you to apply
