Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Accounting Manager to oversee the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly operations of our staff accountants. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading a team in the preparation of financial statements, following accounting processes, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and contributing to the overall financial strategy of the company. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Provide in-depth financial analysis and insights to senior management on key performance indicators (KPIs), cash flow, and overall financial health.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for external stakeholders, including investors, banks, and lending institutions.
  • Accounting Operations & Compliance:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor collection activities by properties, perform continuous control and spot audits of revenue and receivables.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Process monthly sales tax calculation and submission.
  • Maintains accounting ledgers and schedules by verifying and posting account transactions, amortization and depreciation of capital accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports outlining the Company's financial position in areas of income, expense, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Collaborate with department heads and senior management to prepare the company's annual budget, providing financial guidance and support.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgeted targets, analyzing variances and making recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development of financial forecasts and projections.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting continuous improvement in processes and procedures.
  • Ensure that the accounting team meets deadlines and maintains a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Audit & Tax Compliance:
  • Manage the coordination of internal and external audits, ensuring that all necessary documentation and schedules are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Other Duties:
  • Perform other accounting-related duties and special projects as assigned by senior management.


Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting.

Real Estate / Property Management experience required.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.

Experience with real estate/property management software highly desired (ResMan, Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks Online)

Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel, and Microsoft Office programs.

Proven track record of managing financial operations, budgets, and audits.

Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.

Effective communicator with the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
