Job Summary:

The General Accounting Manager has management responsibilities to either execute directly or oversee through subordinates in all areas of General Accounting, including reconciliations, vendor payments, customer invoicing, preparing journal entries, and providing guidance to all direct reports. The General Accounting Manager will also be required to lead the monthly financial close activities, including the preparation and presentation of final financial reports.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversight and management of all AP and AR accounting operations, including supervision of all AP and AR personnel.
  • Maintain and reconcile all General Ledger accounts on a recurring monthly basis, including reviewing monthly journal entries, providing account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Lead the monthly close process, ensuring all books are closed accurately per schedule.
  • Maintain the company accounting software platform as appropriate.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual audit by preparing required schedules and reconciliations.
  • Perform complex financial analysis as needed.
  • Assist with the annual budget process, including partnering with various department leads in establishing clear measurable targets.
  • Perform monthly absorption variance analysis. Direct Labor Utilization and indirect expenses actual vs budget.
  • Support all Accounting department process improvement initiatives.
  • Support all internal, external, and governmental audit and regulatory reporting requirements as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manages and oversees accounting functions.
  • Supervises and schedules staff in organization support operations.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Required Experience/Abilities:
  • Seven to ten years of progressive corporate accounting experience
  • One to three years of supervisory experience
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Sound understanding of GAAP
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Advanced MS Excel
Education and Certifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
  • CPA strongly preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • While primarily an office job, may require time at a manufacturing facility or other location.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • CONUS travel may be required from time to time.
