Join our company and be part of an innovative team that’s First in Food . Location Description: Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds. Responsibilities: Shift: 2p - 10:30p; 5 days a week (rotating weekends) POSITION SUMMARY : The Processing Supervisor plans, directs and coordinates the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing food products in accordance with safety, cost, quality and quantity specifications. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Directs and coordinates the work activities and resources necessary to produces the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost, consistent with good manufacturing practices. Provides a safe work environment for all personnel. Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations. Requests and directs services of maintenance, sanitation and other personnel as necessary to achieve the desired level and quality of production, sanitation, safety and warehouse services. Collaborates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times. Responsible for ingredient usage and all other department costs. Ensures accurate and up-to-date records (i.e. timecards, downtime records, absentee records, etc.). Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner. Encourages suggestions from employees to improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production. Keeps management informed on operating and/or employee problems, quality, safety and/or control costs of production. Maintains consistent communications and monthly department meetings. Follows proper SOP’s (Standard Operation Procedures) Assumes personal responsibility to ensure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adheres to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporates safety and health in all jobs and tasks. Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. Ensures regulatory compliance at all times. Able to perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: 3 years supervisory or leadership related experience preferred. Ability to effectively coordinate and supervise all department functions. Bilingual in Spanish desired. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills. Able to direct, train and motivate department personnel. Ability to recognize problem situations, investigate and take appropriate steps to resolve. Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments. Demonstrates the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others to complete work assignments. Able to work independently or with others in a team environment depending upon the assignment. Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.
