Senior Virtualization Engineer - DC - Public Trust Technology Systems

Sr. Virtualization Engineer needed for a contract opportunity with SOC's client to work in Washington, DC. *** US citizenship required; Must have a Public Trust Clearance*** Responsibilities: Minimum two-days per week onsite requirement at DOT HQ, Washington DC. Once every 2-3 months support server infrastructure in a 24x7 on-call escalation capacity as part of a team rotation. Install and configure vCenter Server. Configure, manage and maintain ESXi cluster servers. Setup and configure HA, vMotion and DRS. Configure Datacenters, clusters, resource pools, VMs and virtual switching. Monitor health of VMs operating in various data centers. Manage replications and VM movements between data centers. Manage disaster recovery of the virtualized environment using SRM. Support VMware management tools (i.e., Aria Operations, Log Insight, etc.). Install, configure, and manage VDI solutions utilizing VMware Horizon. Provide support to system administrators in order to resolve VDI issues and issues with Virtual servers including when required providing support in response to outages including conducting root cause analysis. Maintain and update environmental documentation, standard Operating Procedures, and engineering documentation. Working closely with counterparts to ensure stable and healthy virtualization platforms. Collaborate with Lead to identify, assess, and present solution options for meeting the functional and technical requirements, which may include hardware and/or software. Install, configure, and troubleshoot server systems (i.e., Windows, Linux, Appliances). Performs security hardening, patching and server certificate updates. Develops documentation for System Installation Plans and System Administration Guides. Perform other tasks as directed by Lead Engineers or Project Manager. Qualifications: Must have a minimum of 8 years of related experience. Must have the ability to install and configure vCenter Server. Must be able to work with ESXi cluster servers. Must have experience monitoring the health of VMs operating in various data centers. Experience with VMware Horizon View, VMware vCenter, vSphere Client and Web Client, and VMware Workstation. Understand VMware's integration with complex storage technologies. Experience managing VMware Horizon user profiles. Must have extensive knowledge of multi-vendor server operating systems. Demonstrated experience in all aspects of enterprise Windows environment operations and maintenance (O&M) and engineering. Working knowledge using and configuring Windows Distributed File System and CIFS. Experience with performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigation. Interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively. Demonstrated experience in a fast tempo ITSM support environment.
