Description:
We're seeking an experienced leader to help us develop a holistic approach to our audience development process - finding, growing and sustaining our audience across the entire Fortune portfolio. This will involve setting measurable targets to drive scale at the top of the funnel and then nurturing those users through CRM best practices. You'll partner with key stakeholders across edit, product, conferences, marketing, social and BI to develop and execute an audience-first content growth strategy to raise awareness and action for our global brand. You'll develop new and innovative ways to help realize our goals and diversify our revenue streams. This role will oversee the following functions:
• Audience Strategy (Target Audience definition)
• Media Channel Strategy (Social & CRM)
• Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
• Content Strategy (in collaboration with editorial and conference team)
• Content Syndication
This is a high-energy role that requires superior understanding of data analysis, audience engagement and content growth strategies. Our ideal candidate has experience working with a legacy media brand (ideally business or lifestyle news coverage) to help evolve and re-position us for the future. In addition to strategic initiatives, they also possess the ability to execute cross-functionally and through various media channels and formats with the goal of establishing a long-term relationship with our core customers.
A proven track record of collaboration, demonstrating high attention to detail, ability to multitask and problem solve is needed to effectively prioritize Fortune's Audience strategies in conjunction with various C-level executives and business GMs.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
• Grow the visibility of our tentpole conferences, iconic lists, rankings and award-winning editorial coverage
• Evaluate effectiveness of current product offering and gaps and identify content plans and products to increase audience share (focus on podcasting, shortform video, newsletters)
• Establish, monitor and optimize measurable audience channel goals
• Create cross-promotional funnel strategies on our O&O and paid channels
• Collaborate with the Editorial operation to help shape an enterprise-focused content strategy using first- and third-party data
• Build a defensible organic audience strategy through current and future Search Engines (Google, Perplexity, Chat GPT, Claude, etc.)
• Spearhead the creation of a unified consumer database that will enable CRM activities
• Conduct primary audience research, define core audiences to sustain and grow, and establish stakeholder alignment to help shape marketing and content strategies
• Liaise with product and engineering to help integrate features and functions that maximize customer loyalty (LTV)
• Manage and grow a team of audience marketing professionals
• Work cross functionally to establish a unified messaging strategy across all channels to ensure consistency with end users
• Collaborate with the paywall team to develop cross-product optimization and consumer revenue model (i.e. paywall testing and algorithm refinement)
Qualifications
• Minimum Bachelor's and or MS degree in Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 10+ years of relevant Audience Data Analytics experience.
• Audience Digital Growth and Performance Marketing Data Analytics experience preferred.
• Understanding of best of breed technology tools for BI/Data Analytics, Martech, Adtech, CDP, CRM, etc.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized and detailed oriented.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member when needed to drive to team goals.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Total Compensation Range (base salary & bonus): $250,000 - $375,000 inclusive of a annual discretionary bonus.
