Samson Rose has been engaged by a client in the robotics and manufacturing space to help find a Principal or Lead Robotics Programmer who will serve as the lead on all robotics programming, documenting, updating, and troubleshooting matters of flexible robotic manufacturing systems that are core to their product. The ideal candidate will understand theoretical approaches and practical implementation aspects of robot programming and have a proven track record of architecting and deploying robotics code in industrial automation systems. This role will take a “hands-on” execution approach and use their skills in robotics software and hardware to create bleeding-edge industrial automation systems. The Role Work with Manufacturing & Operations to deploy and support novel robotic automation cells in a production environment. Create, document, optimize, update, and debug robot programs (KUKA / ABB / Yaskawa / FANUC). Work with cross-functional teams to determine specific process requirements. Ensure that all off-line or on-line robot programs developed are efficient and that they adhere to all functional and operational requirements, including cycle speeds, throughput, recovery, and safety. Support implementation and validation of control systems tied to robotics, including safety and fault recovery. Provide complete documentation of robotic procedures and implementations, including communications schemas, IO maps, and fault recovery. Maintain accurate records and documentation according to operation and quality standards. Support and participate in the off-line robotic motion studies and process simulations. Basic Qualifications Minimum of 8 years of robotic programming knowledge and work experience. Thorough understanding of automated manufacturing systems and operations, including mechanical, electrical, and control processes. Minimum of 4 years of hands-on KUKA/KRL experience. Preferred Qualifications 10 years of robotic programming knowledge and work experience. BS or MS in Engineering Technology or Robotics. Knowledge of vehicle systems and requirements. Hands-on KUKA, ABB, Motoman, and FANUC experience. Hands-on experience with automated adhesive dispensing systems. Experience configuring and validating robotic safety systems. Experience deploying and validating robotic automation systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment, such as automotive or aerospace. Well-versed in programming languages including KRL, KAREL, JAVA, C, C++, VB, PASCAL, FORTRAN or TwinCAT. A knack to thrive in a startup environment. Ability to effectively work with small teams and interface with engineering and manufacturing groups to understand system designs and the associated constraints.
