The anticipated salary range for this role is between $80,000.00 and $125,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. Role Description We are seeking an Associate for SMBC's SPDAD-FAD Controllers - Finance Control Oversight ("FCO") Group - IT Control Department. This person will be responsible for assisting the FCO IT head in planning, managing, and executing the IT general control ("ITGC") assessment, IT application control assessment("ITAC"), data control assessment over financial & regulatory reporting. They will also be responsible for service organization & control report ("SOC report") reviews and may perform other internal control related work as prescribed by PCAOB, AICPA, COSO 2013 and CoBIT 5.0. The position is located at 200 Hudson Street, Jersey City. The position may require some travel domestically between 200 Hudson Street, Jersey City, 277 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10172 and 1 North Lexington Avenue, White Plains, NY 10601 but it is expected to be minimal (less than 10%). This position reports to the FCO IT head within SMBC's SPDAD-FAD Controllers - FCO group. This is a non-supervisory role. Responsibilities Work with teams that are part of the Finance Control Oversight (FCO) group to perform an integrated review of Business and Technology processes and includes review of both IT applications and infrastructure that support the Finance organization. Lead and manage the execution of IT control assessments including testing of IT General Controls (ITGC), IT Application Controls (ITAC), Data controls, as well as testing of key reports and system interfaces. Analyze processes, risks and controls related to the IT environment to identify improvement opportunities, recommend solutions and partner with management to resolve deficiencies. Perform testing of IT related internal controls (e.g., perform Test of Design (TOD) and Test of Operating Effectiveness (TOD). Develop process narratives and create work-papers summarizing work performed and conclusions reached as well as creating flowcharts and process documentation for relevant processes. Draft comprehensive executive summaries and final reports at the conclusion of IT assessments which are then presented to senior management. Participate in Finance IT implementations and evaluate new systems for control considerations and partner with system owners to ensure that appropriate IT controls are designed and in place prior to the system's go live. Perform the service organization & control report reviews and report the results. Prepare the quarterly internal control assessment updates and annual management internal control certification reports under COSO 2013 for financial and regulatory reporting processes. Effectively manage the remediation of IT related internal control design and operating effectiveness deficiencies; coordinate with cross-functional remediation teams and document aggregated deficiencies. Perform issue validation testing and review of issue closure package for Technology issues and work with stakeholders to ensure that IT issues are closed timely. Help build and maintain a collaborative relationship with Internal/External Auditors and SMBC/SMBCAH Management; Prepare and provide annual internal control related training. Provide advisory to SMBC/SMBCAH Management in all internal control matters and issues (e.g., special projects or focused reviews). Work closely with other functional areas within SMBC/SMBCAH subsidiaries to interpret (reporting/internal control regulations/audit standards), define and provide technical process and control advise to SMBC constituents. Qualifications and Skills 4 years of relevant experience working IT audit, IT risk, or IT compliance function and leading walk-throughs of IT processes and testing of IT controls. In-depth knowledge of ITGC & ITAC controls as well as risk management and experience designing and implementing Technology controls in a complex environment. Advanced knowledge of access management lifecycle and access management processes and controls including privilege access management, segregation of duties, etc. Knowledge and testing of IT controls in a Cloud based environment including Software as a Services (Saas). Understanding of testing approaches for ITGCs, ITACs, system Interfaces, and related controls. Good project management skills are a must, including the ability to work collaboratively across functional teams and coordinate goals with a variety of stakeholders. Experience with review and implementation of large-scale financial systems including general ledger systems would be highly desirable. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitasks and work with shifting priorities. Good analytical and process documentation skills. Detail oriented and well organized. Good temperament and even keeled. Ability to work independently as well as within a group setting. CPA/CIA/CISA is preferred.
