The Simulation group delivers products that accelerate our autonomous vehicle development, testing, and deployment through specialized frameworks and tools. As a software engineer on the Simulation team, you will drive the integration of our simulation test tools and pipelines to solve mission-critical testing and evaluation problems. These tools and pipelines would drive continuous training and evaluation of Cruise autonomous software stack simulation. You will drive scalability to software solutions to improve development velocity, safety and reliability of testing autonomous vehicle software.

You will collaborate closely with autonomous vehicle software, systems engineering, product management, as well as the simulation framework and tooling teams, to deliver these scalable software solutions for autonomous vehicle testing in simulation.

What you'll be doing:
  • Develop automated test tools and pipelines for simulation test creation, maintenance and execution of tests used to train autonomous software ML models and end-to-end performance evaluation.

  • Develop and integrate test productivity and debugging scripts and tools to scale software solutions to customers for simulated testing and evaluation.

  • Craft and implement engineering solutions to tackle complex test problems with an eye towards quality, performance and stability.

  • Collaborate across teams, with SWEs, Product Managers, Systems Engineers and Data Science to build efficient and accurate simulation tools and improve development velocity of Cruise software engineers.

What you must have:
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years relevant industry experience.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++.

  • Passion for building internal tools, frameworks and libraries.

  • Clear track record of effective collaboration with customers and continuous delivery of quality results in a remote workplace.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Bonus points!

  • Experience with SQL programming.

  • Experience building developer productivity tools with a high degree of product excellence.

  • Familiarity with dashboarding systems for displaying and exploring metrics over time (i.e. Looker, Tableau, Kibana).

  • Experience with verification and validation of complex and/or safety critical systems.

The salary range for this position is $142,800 - $200,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
