This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. Join a world-class team dedicated to human space exploration and play a pivotal role as a vehicle Safety and Reliability Systems Engineer. You'll work with diverse engineers on the Blue Moon Lunar Lander system, analyzing safety, defining requirements, identifying hazard controls, and supporting integration and validation. Work with NASA and National Team Partners in the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. Contribute to developing the Blue Moon Lunar Lander, enabling human return to the Moon and expanding human presence beyond Earth. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform and lead engineering activities including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Hazard Reports, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), reliability analysis, and developing mitigation plans. Develop plans and coordinate completion of system and subsystem safety analysis, providing review, guidance, and expertise of safety analysis products. Ensure traceability between system and subsystem functions, requirements, and safety artifacts. Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements. Work together with Lunar Systems Engineers to establish standard methodologies and explore possibilities for implementing common processes across projects. Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered. 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience performing activities such as requirements definition, requirements traceability, functional decomposition, integration, verification, and validation Experience with performing safety analyses including one of the following: Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Hazard Reports, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), reliability analysis, and mitigation plans Ability to coordinate safety analysis products across collaborators and experts from different engineering fields to develop safety and reliability products. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate technical information effectively Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
