Rocky Vista University (RVU), one of the premier osteopathic medicine and health science universities in the nation, is seeking its next Provost. Rocky Vista University has three distinct campuses located in Colorado, Montana, and Utah. Serving as the Chief Academic Officer, the Provost will oversee the educational portfolios across all three campuses. The Provost reports to the President and in cooperation with the faculty, the Provost serves as the primary leader of the educational mission of the university and is responsible for providing leadership and succession planning, strategy, resource prioritization, quality, transparency, and accountability in alignment with the RVU’s strategic plans. This is an opportunity for an extraordinary Provost to further develop the institution’s educational mission and strategically evaluate and develop new educational growth opportunities.
The Provost must be a compelling leader whose passion for the academic mission energizes faculty, students, and staff, focusing their efforts on a strategic vision of excellence in all areas of the University. The Provost will promote a culture of institutional stewardship and transparency, including a commitment to improved education, academic, and faculty affairs operations, effective fundraising, and a willingness to realign resources with evolving strategies. It is essential that the next Provost be viewed by all stakeholders as a strong advocate for balancing the academic, educational, and clinical missions of the University as well as advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion. As the chief academic officer of the University, the Provost must have an excellent grasp of the challenges and opportunities facing medical education and the ability to connect and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and groups to achieve collective success. The Provost must also be a decisive leader who embodies integrity, is responsive, collaborative, and creative, and is dedicated to the success and wellbeing of all students.
The Provost will join RVU during a period of significant growth and innovation. The next Provost will be a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader with a strong commitment to excellence in medical education, demonstrated administrative skills, and the ability to work with a diverse array of campus leaders to guide the institution to the next level of distinction. The Provost must have a record demonstrating commitment to maintaining a robust system of shared governance and to advancing transparency and trust across all campuses.
The Provost will have: An earned doctoral level terminal degree in Medicine (DO, MD, MBBS), Nursing (DNP, DNS, DNSc, PhD), Dentistry (DDS, DMD), Pharmacy (PharmD), Public Health (DrPH), Social Work (DSW) or a PhD / PsyD / EdD / DSc in a related area. In addition, RVU welcomes candidates with M.B.A., M.H.A., M.P.H., and related degrees. A distinguished academic background that includes a history of achievement in education, scholarship, service, and administration with an emphasis on administrative experience in higher education in academic health centers. Scholarship should be sufficient to qualify for appointment at the academic rank of Professor.

Each campus is equipped with a simulation center, standardized patient rooms, expansive active learning classrooms, a full gross anatomy cadaver lab, a research lab, a large library, and many study spaces throughout the buildings.
