Lead Flight Software Engineer
to join our cutting-edge Payload Product Technology and Advanced Ground Systems team in
Huntington Beach, CA . In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the execution of the EOIR program, where you will help bring to life a revolutionary tactical space-based imagery microsatellite. As the Lead Flight Software Engineer, you will leverage your robust experience in design, architecture, development, and integration to drive critical software development initiatives. You will lead the charge in validating, verifying, and implementing requirements, ensuring our software solutions are not only innovative but also meet the highest standards of excellence. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of systems and software requirements, particularly as they relate to satellite communication and missile tracking systems. Position Responsibilities Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems. Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system. Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities. Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics. Leads software research and development projects. Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations. Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards. Mentor and train other software engineers. Works under consultative direction. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (Required Skills/Experience) 10 or more years of experience in developing real-time and embedded satellite flight software. 10 or more years of experience with programming languages such as C++. 10 or more years’ experience leading software teams and/or projects. 10 or more years of experience in design, architecture, development, and integration of complex software systems, particularly in aerospace or defense applications. 2 or more years’ experience working with satellite or space-based payloads. 3 or more years of experience developing software for VxWorks. 5 or more years in object-oriented design and programming. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) Bachelor of Science degree (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or other technical degree is strongly preferred. Experience developing and debugging software using high level programming languages (C, C++). Experience with the full life cycle process of software systems and development. Experience using Model Based Systems Engineering tool skills including Cameo. Experience as the technical leader of a software development or product deployment team. Experience in Matlab autocoding, GNC, and image processing. Typical Education/Experience Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Work Shift: This position is for 1st shift.
