M-F, 8:30AM to 5:00PM Rate of Pay : $85,000.00 Annually Closing Date : 12/13/2024 Benefits : Standard; Full-Time, Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following: Health, vision, dental, life as well as voluntary life and disability insurance Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire) Vacation benefit – 20 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0769 hours for each hour worked (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment) One floating day off for use (accrued immediately, and again annually, but may not be used until the completion of the initial three-month introductory period of employment) Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service) Voluntary Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (403(b) plan) Function Under the direction of the Director of Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) & Service Extension (SE), the EDS & SE Assistant Director will assist the Director in leading EDS and SE across the Intermountain Division. The EDS & SE Assistant Director will directly manage the EDS & SE Field Representatives (Reps) and perform their duties as needed. The EDS & SE Assistant Director will additionally take a lead role in developing and coordinating EDS and SE training. Duties and Responsibilities General Duties and Responsibilities

Directly supervise, mentor, and evaluate the EDS & SE Field Representatives (Reps), providing ongoing development, training, and support. Step in to perform the duties of EDS & SE Reps as needed during absences or high-demand periods. Support the Director in leading EDS & SE across the Intermountain Division, ensuring smooth operations. Develop training materials and coordinate regular training sessions for EDS and SE personnel. Perform other duties related to EDS and SE as directed by the EDS & SE Director.

Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) duties and responsibilities

Coordinate EDS activities and operations in conjunction with the Director, including disaster preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives. Organize and participate in EDS-related training, simulations, and exercises for staff and volunteers. Represent The Salvation Army in external emergency management networks, including VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) networks, and participate in conferences, workshops, and panels. Serve as a public representative for The Salvation Army, including public speaking engagements, emergency management training, and conference participation. Deploy to national or international disasters, as approved, to support emergency efforts led by The Salvation Army.

Service Extension (SE) duties and responsibilities

Visit Service Units and Centers periodically to provide guidance, assess needs, and recommend changes or strategies for improvement. Provide leadership and support to Service Extension Units and Centers, ensuring compliance with The Salvation Army’s policies and practices. Analyze the effectiveness of programs, volunteers, and partnerships within Service Units, recommending changes and developing new strategies as needed. Assist Service Units in completing and submitting required statistical and financial reports to the Divisional Headquarters (DHQ).

Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field. Two years or more of experience in community relations activities, budgeting, program development, and fundraising. Two years or more of experience in Emergency Disaster Services or emergency management.

Skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and liaison skills.

Qualifications

Good health, allowing for continuous involvement in a high-stress disaster setting. General knowledge of The Salvation Army preferred. Must be comfortable attending community meetings, meeting city and county officials, and representing The Salvation Army in various groups and situations.

Driving

If the position requires driving:

A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver’s license is required. An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.

Background Check

Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.

Physical Requirements Ability to maneuver. Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Ability to access and produce information from the computer.
