Informational Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)
with expertise in user interface development to provide proven, industry-leading big data capabilities to our customer. The ISSE will be part of a team that supports law enforcement mission-critical applications with both obtaining and maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO). Moreover, the ISSE will frequently collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise and possess the ability to organize and support the latest security initiatives. Major Duties: Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure security engineering initiatives are aligned with the operational needs of the FBI. Interact with FBI technical leads, developers, and system owners to ensure that Authorization to Operate (ATO) security packages properly adhere to FISMA and NIST security guidelines. Provide security artifacts and evidence for system security control questions. Review system security audit logs and take corrective action as needed. Perform security monitoring and evaluation tasks including security audits, system control assessments, and creating security alerts using tools such as Splunk or Defender for Cloud. Update technical security guides and diagrams for FBI mission-critical systems. Possess a strong industry knowledge of the latest security trends, technology, etc., and demonstrate forward thinking around how this technology can support the operational needs of the FBI and the future technical strategy of the organization. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Associates degree and 10+ years of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience; OR Master’s Degree and 6+ years of experience; OR 3 years with PhD. However, four (4) years of additional relevant experience or specialized training will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree. A current/active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph. Extensive experience in security systems engineering. Must be able to collaborate effectively with a group of high-performing, technical individuals, and possess the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing to business and technology. Possess solid communication skills with the ability to act as a team player while interacting across various teams within the organization. Possess a general knowledge of Linux (RHEL7/8) and Windows Server 2019/2022. Demonstrate experience with creating and validating evidence for NIST security controls. Familiar with back-end log management tools including Azure EventHub and Splunk. Possess a strong desire to learn and develop processes to improve the overall security of the environment. Utilize enterprise security scanning tools including Tenable, Burp Suite, and Defender for Endpoint. Desired Qualifications: Able to work in an Agile environment using project sprints and Azure Boards. Demonstrate experience with Microsoft Azure cloud systems and Microsoft Office applications including MS PowerPoint and MS Excel. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). DOD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP). $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
