KWS Seeds, LLC is looking for a full-time Agricultural Research Technician to join our team at our Shakopee, MN Location. The Research Technician executes work plans for all aspects of trial activities including planting, irrigation, pest control, ratings, and harvest. Using experience and knowledge to execute our quality standards and trial protocols which may include regulated material.

Essential Job Functions: Direct and operate planting and harvest equipment to include various sized tractors, tillage equipment, sprayers, forklifts and more. Organize, mix, and apply pesticides to field sites under the direction of qualified personnel as needed. Keep detailed records of activities, which may include spray records, regulatory and quality records, and utilize correct reporting methods. Provide training and work direction to team members, temporary workers, and coordinate work schedules as needed.

Execute work plans according to deadlines to enable successful completion of projects. Operate required proprietary software for data collection. Assist with equipment and vehicle maintenance and repairs. Ensure Company handbook, Rules, Guidelines and Procedures and safety protocols are being followed, and personal protective equipment is used correctly. Occasionally travel and/or drive on behalf of the business including trucks and vans. Meet attendance requirements. Assist other station projects as needed.

Required Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving history. Ability to work independently and within a team with flexibility. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Tractor driving or agricultural experience Ability to work variable hours as needed and occasional weekends. Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to work with various groups and prioritize tasks for the best efficiency. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone) experience. Supervisory experience. Valid CDL license or ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire. Have or be able to obtain Pesticide Applicator License within 6 months of hire.

Working Environment: Perform outdoor and indoor work in variable conditions including heat, cold, dust wind, and rain. Field environments with exposure to pollen and handling chemicals. Occasional overnight travel as needed, some out of state. Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as needed.
