To manage all aspects of the water treatment plant and distribution system. This person will have two to three direct employees that will assist in maintaining 400+ homes and businesses with safe and clean water in accordance with federal, state & local legislation, policies & standards. Responsibilities

Create and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all equipment to support the water plant, including keeping logs on work done, scheduling contractors and the assignment of projects and other related tasks. Ensure all water meters are read by the 24th of every month for accounting to bill. Project manager leak repairs, meter and equipment replacements. Ensure proper maintenance and use of the SCADA system and call box. Ensure adequate levels of supplies and materials are stocked for operations and projects. Assign work by priorities, ensuring all customers have adequate water volume and pressure and that all leaks, bad valves and system issues are addressed in a timely manner. Create and maintain schedules for distribution system maintenance to include but not limited to fire hydrant testing, valve cycling, meter repair, etc. Respond to customer requests quickly and professionally including Ms. Utility requests. Coordinate shifts and activities of water plant staff. Maintain and operate the filtering and chemical treatment processes. Service and repair water treatment plant equipment including intakes, piping, storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment controls, pumps and valves. Ensure there is an adequate supply of water for human consumption & firefighting. Order supplies, replacement parts and fuel for water treatment plant equipment. Maintain all plumbing in the water plant, distribution and supporting infrastructure. Arrange for major repairs when needed. Complete required VHD, DEQ, and DPOR water tests and keep appropriate records. Maintain appropriate chemical levels to always ensure safe drinking water. Ensure a clean safe environment at the water treatment plant. Ensure the operation of generators during power outages. Ensure 24/7 remote monitoring with timely responses for alerts. Ensure maintenance of daily logs. Provide reports to government agencies & other organizations, as needed. Ensure appropriate repairs and maintenance is performed on municipal water supply, including valves, piping, meters & hydrants. Ensure plant adheres to operational and projects budgets. Create weekly progress reports, to be presented at the weekly managers meeting. Assist DOE in creating yearly operational budgets and capital expense plans for the water plan. Other duties as necessary. Qualifications

Must have and maintain a Virginia Class 3 Waterworks Operators License or higher. Must have and maintain a VDOT zone certification. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Standing for long periods of time.
