GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing Services, the RN Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for the organization and implementation of new employees' orientation and clinical competency; continued clinical competency, general in-service, and staff development in accordance with staff development and in-service training policies.

The RN Staff Development Coordinator must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by his/her department-adolescent through geriatric. The RN Staff Development Coordinator must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to the populations served by the hospital; and to provide the care needed as described in the Nursing Department's policies and procedures.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or Health Administration or equivalent work experience preferred.

CRRN preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of three (3) years satisfactory experience as an RN in a rehabilitative setting required.

Supervision experience preferred.

Minimum of one (1) year nursing education experience preferred.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Clearances required: PA State Police criminal history check, PA Department of Public Welfare Child

Abuse Central Register (Childline), PA Department of Human Services FBI fingerprint clearance

and PA Department of Aging FBI fingerprint clearance (if applicable).

CPR certification must be obtained and maintained.
