ALS Paramedic MS Transport

MedStar Health is actively seeking an ALS Paramedic who will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients with range of need from uncomplicated to complex during interfacility transport. In collaboration with the patient and family, provides theory-based professional care and coordinates care delivery with the physician and other members of the healthcare team.

Criteria:
New, full-time ALS Paramedic positions only
Cannot be employed by MSH in the same role within the past two years

Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Based on assessment of physical, emotional, bio-physical, and spiritual needs, provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Incorporates the principles of patient-centered care. Communicates patient's clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format. Clearly and accurately documents pertinent information in the patient's medical record. Consistently demonstrates effective documentation practices and develops strategies to ensure complete documentation of patient care. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families. Provides basic patient comfort measures during procedures. When necessary, provides environmental support to expedite timely patient admission or transfer. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve the environment of care. Provides for the emotional support of patients and families during the crisis of illness. Demonstrates patient/family advocacy. Delivers expert paramedic care in ambulances to multiple patient types to include adult subspecialties and pediatrics. Collaborates with on line medical control physicians to manage the patient care of complex patients in transport. Participates in the orientation program for new staff. As part of the program's safety management system, provides feedback and participates in program safety initiatives. Participates in MedSTAR Transport safety program.
