Position Details: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will work in an Urgent Care that runs similarly to an Emergency Room (ER). Location:
325 Broad Street, Sumter, SC Schedule: Week days 7:15am-4pm and every other weekend 7:15am-4pm / 2 days off per week with 2-3 closing shifts
(Clinic is open 7 days per week.) Specialty:
Urgent Care
Primary Responsibilities: Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance Administering and/or ordering medications, injections, and IVs Administering vaccines and immunizations Venipuncture for lab draw Performing EKGs, Spirometry, Flu and Strep Tests Performing school and/or sports physicals Sterilizing Instruments Wound care Temporary casting Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary Saves doctors’ time by helping with office procedures (toe nail removal, wound care, temporary casting, etc.) Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or completion of an equivalent adult education program
Active medical assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA or RMA)
CPR certification or eligibility to obtain
Proficiency with starting labs and IVs (straight stick and butterfly) Proven ability to multitask
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of clinical experience in a Family Medicine setting
1+ years of experience performing the critical skills of a medical assistant after on-the-job training Experience with electronic medical record software
Experience working as a Medical Assistant or EMT in an Urgent Care or ER setting Experience performing medical back office tasks including obtaining vital signs, injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis and administering medications
Experience performing medical front office tasks including scheduling appointments, prior authorizations, medication refills and referrals
